Definitely NOT the Soda Butte Lodge. Over the years I've never heard anything good about them....and they are not wildlife supporters (I know this firsthand). The Super 8, Cooke City Sinclair Cabins, or Alpine would be much better choices.
As for late night dinner...that is pretty difficult. The Beartooth Cafe is good...but even in summer they are only open until 9. The Log Cabin in Silver Gate is very good, but they close at 9 or 10, depending on business. In either case, they are seasonal...open from around Memorial Day to the end of September at the latest. Eating in Cooke is pretty limited at the best of times...the Bearclaw Deli has good breakfasts and lunches, Beds and Buns has good sandwiches until 4 or 5 in the afternoon (but if they are open while you are there you can get sandwiches and/or soup to heat in your room or the hotel later)...and Miners is pretty independent as to hours. Good luck!
