Garnett Hill loop hike has nice variety from following Elk Creek, to some time along the Yellowstone to the open sage of the valley. It starts just up the NE entrance road from the Roosevelt Lodge. It is a loop and is about 8 miles long.

For a nice short hike, try Trout Lake one morning or evening coming or going from Cooke City. It is only 1 mile round trip, but very nice.
